Sometimes people read about the overwhelming issues of our world, and choose to respond by being overwhelmed. I realize the intensity of the worlds’ issues. And I do not believe in making them lesser or more intense than required. I’m reading Terrify No More by Gary Haugen, who is part of the IJM. The book is both very disturbing, and incredibly compelling. I feel inspired, and reminded through Christ, we can do all things.

“While there are millions of girls and women victimized every day, our work will always be about the one. The one girl deceived. The one girl kidnapped. The one girl raped. The one girl infected by AIDS. The one girl needing a rescuer. To succumb to the enormity of the problem is to fail the one. And more is required of us”…

Addressing this from a different angle, Sharon says of a rescued victim named Elisabeth ” When weary Washingtonians say, ‘so you rescued one; there are millions of others. What’s the point?’ I say ‘ I think Elisabeth understands the point. Elisabeth is the point.” – Sharon Cohn, IJM.
