You can often find me lying flat and outstretched on my floor like a giant starfish. It’s the most open I can find myself when I need to just have a good soak. When I need to just be wholly in the presence of my creator, finding myself whole in Him. There is nothing more vulnerable than letting your limbs go to the farthest part of your being, with an open heart and open hands. Open the blinds, let the sun catch your face afire, and stop all else but breathing.

Turn the music loud enough to drown out everything but the wind and allow yourself to let go so He might catch you up in His glorious dancing. Consider nothing, let the music wrap itself round your soul. Fail to move and succeed in worship. For I am finding more and more that the only appropriate sacrifice I can carry to the house of the Lord is pure worship for all He is, regardless of the fruit He shows of my life alone. I can become to selfish in my worship, producing more of a singing session than a time of ultimate praise. And that can’t possibly be worship at all.

Sometimes we think too much, say too much and fail to stand in awe of Him. Truly stand in awe of Him. That which requires us to abandon our wreckless thoughts, our wreckless deeds. Don’t consider to worship Him only for what you see His has accomplished. Have faith enough to worship Him with the unknown, the unseen. Selfless enough to worship Him for what He has done in others, and the ways he is moving outside your own shrinking world. Don’t sing, don’t move. Don’t try to remember the next lyric. Soak, and be drenched in all that is good. Soaked to the core in all that is God. Let your words be few my friend, and stand in absolute awe.

Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil. Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you are on earth; therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes through much activity, and a fools voice is known by his many words. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed. Better not to vow than to vow and not pay. Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, nor say before the messenger of God that it was an error. Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands? For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God. Ecclesiastes 5. 1-7

“Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue: He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I might show him the salvation of God.” Psalm 50.22-23
